Description
Are you facing problems related to Office 2013 applications? Remember, it may happen with all bundled software including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, or Visio, especially at the startup.
Solution:
To diagnose the background causes, go to your “Start” screen in Windows 8 or click “Start > Run” in Windows 7, and type one of the following commands:
• Type “excel /safe” and press “Ente”r to start Excel 2013.
• Type “outlook /safe” and press “Enter” to start Outlook 2013.
• Type “winword /safe” and press “Enter” to start Word 2013.
• Type “powerpnt /safe” and press “Enter” to start PowerPoint 2013.
• Type “mspub /safe” and press “Enter” to start Publisher 2013.
• Type “visio /safe” and press “Enter” to start Visio 2013.
If the Office application is not able to start in Safe Mode then the problem is not related to add-ins. Then go to the “More Information” section for finding other reasons.
If the Office application starts, let’s disable the add-ins one at a time:
• With the Office application still in Safe Mode, click File > Options > Add-Ins.
• Next to the “Manage” list, click “Go.”
• Uncheck one of the add-ins in the list and click “OK.”
• Restart the application (not in Safe Mode this time).
After this, if the Office application starts without any problem then the add-in which you have unchecked is faulty. To resolve this, we want you to visit company website for the updated version of add-in. In case, the newer version is not available, then leave it unchecked or remove it from the PC.
If the Office application doesn’t start then repeat the above steps to uncheck the other add-ins. If all add-ins are unchecked and you are still not able to open your Office application, follow the steps under Troubleshooting COM Add-ins.
With the Office application still in Safe Mode:
1. Click “File” > “Options” > “Add-Ins.”
2. In the “Manage” list, click “COM Add-Ins”, and then click “Go.”
3. Uncheck one of the add-ins in the list and click “OK.”
4. Restart the application (not in Safe Mode this time).
If the Office application starts then COM add-in is creating a problem. Visit company website to resolve the issue.
If the Office application is not able to start in Safe Mode then the problem is not related to add-ins. Then go to the “More Information” section for finding other reasons.
