How to Enable Built-in Facebook Messenger and Social API in Mozilla Firefox?

Here is good news for Facebook lovers. If you are a Mozilla Firefox user and spend most of your time on Facebook then the latest Firefox version is coming with a new feature called “Social API” which is helpful in accessing social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc. As per this new feature, you can add social network buttons and sidebars in Firefox window so as to chat with your friends, checking messages, notifications, etc. get quick and easy.

Solution:

Here are the steps to use the feature immediately:





1.      Go to official Facebook URL to turn on the Facebook Messenger in Firefox.
2.      After turning on the Facebook messenger on, the Facebook buttons will add on Firefox toolbar as well as Facebook chat sidebar in right side of Firefox window.
3.      These Facebook buttons in Firefox toolbar will help you check your notifications, messages, etc. without visiting to your actual Facebook website. Facebook chat sidebar makes you chat with your friends more quickly and easily.
4.      Also, you can disable the Facebook chat sidebar by just clicking on Facebook button available in Firefox toolbar.
In case, you don’t like the Facebook messenger and want to disable it then just click on "Remove from Firefox" option.




To enable and activate the entire social API in Firefox, follow the below steps:

1.      By opening Firefox, type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
2.      Confirm it by clicking on “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button
3.      Then type “social” in the Filter box and look for the Boolean keys:
social.active
social.enabled
4.      Set both keys to False. By double clicking on the keys and then select “Toggle”, the values set to   True.
5.      This will enable the new social API in Firefox
