retweets

Solution:

Just go to Twitter account and click on your profile. After this, click “Following” to see the list of people you follow. You can select any egregious retweeters and click on the gray outline button available on the left of the blue “Following” button. Now, choose “Turn off Retweets” from the drop-down menu you see. By this, you can keep away retweets from that person from appearing in your feed. But, make sure copied and pasted tweet with an RT and comment will still appear. How to report spam and other violations on Twitter?

Description

Whenever you find anything wrong on social networking sites like Facebook, you directly report spam that stuff. Now, Twitter has also made report spam easy for you. How? Then have a look on this tutorial.

Twitter-1

Solution:

For reporting an abusive tweet or anything which you are finding wrong, go to the tweet in question. This you can do either by finding it in your timeline or through a direct link to the tweet or by another user’s profile page. Then go to “More” button in the lower left corner of the tweet and click it. Now, select “Report Tweet” from the resulting menu. After this, Twitter will pop up a box asking you that whether the tweet is spam or person’s account was compromised or it violates another rule. You can specify your report.
Furthermore, choose the appropriate button and select whether you want to block and unfollow the account in question. Finally press “Submit.” In case, you have selected “Abusive” from the list then the “Submit” button changes to “Next” button. And, twitter will ask you for additional information related to that abusive tweet.
If you want to block someone through twitter smartphone app then it is also possible. This app works in a similar manner as it works on mobile. By tapping any tweet in your timeline, tap the “More” button and then tap “Report Tweet.”

Twitter-2

After that, this app will ask you about the problem and you can step into the reporting process from there. Tap the “Submit” button after selecting the appropriate option. On choosing abusive tweet, the “Submit” button will change into “Next” button. Twitter will ask you certain questions about the tweet. At the end, Twitter will review your report after your submission and then take action against it. Blocking the account is really helpful.

Twitter

Solution:

For writing Twitter bot, you need to know little bit about JavaScript but it is not compulsory. Basically, a bot is a program which runs in the background and whenever it encounters a command; it processes it and then sends a reply to the tweeter in another tweet.
Nowadays, Google scripts can be used to write the Twitter bot and host it on your Google Drive.
Here are some steps to write a Twitter Bot:

Setup a Twitter App

Firstly, create a new account at Twitter that work as a bot. Go to dev.twitter.com, sign-in with your new Twitter account and create a Twitter app. Now, give your name, description, website and callback URL to the app.
1.After the creation of Twitter app, click “Settings” and choose “Read and Write under Application Type.” It is important as you want the bot to read and post tweets. Now, click “Update” button to save changes.
2.Switch to the OAuth tool tab and make note of the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret. This will require later in your Google Apps Script.

Create a Wolfram Alpha App

1.Wolfram App is used to determine answers that users will be posing to your Twitter bot.
2.Go to developer.wolfram.com, create an account and then choose “Get an App ID” to create your new app.
3.This App ID will be needed in the Google Script. Remember that your free Wolfram Alpha App can only be used for a non-commercial purpose.

Host the Twitter bot on Google Drive

1.Create a copy of the Twitter bot into your Google Drive.
2.Edit the values of TWITTER_CONSUMER_KEY, TWITTER_CONSUMER_SECRET, TWITTER_HANDLE (your new Twitter account) and WOLFRAM_API_ID – you know them all from the previous steps.
3.Go to Run -> Start to initialize the Twitter bot. Click yes if the script asks you to authorize access to certain Google Script services.
4.Go to Run -> Start to actually run the Twitter bot. It will show an “Authorization Required” dialog and will redirect you to Twitter where you can grant the script access to your Twitter account.

Now, close the Google Scripts and your Twitter bot is ready to run and take commands. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:

Your Twitter account has been hacked! what to do now

Description

If someone else is sending tweets and DMs using your name then it means your twitter account is in danger. Well, what to do now? No need to panic as we are here with the solution.

Twitter

Solution:

Firstly, try to log onto your Twitter account. If you can do so then change your password immediately. It will stop the Twitter thief from tracking your account. For this, click the tool icon in the upper-right corner and select “Settings.” Then click “Password” on the left pane and enter old as well as new passwords. Make sure your new password should be strong.
In case, you can’t log in or change your password then go to your Twitter’s customer service and submit a Support request. After getting your account back, send out a tweet apologizing to your followers. And, delete all those tweets which you didn’t send. Also, block all the third-party apps from accessing your account. For this, click “Apps” on the Settings page’s left panel and click “Revoke access” for every application.
For further protection, setup Login verification:
1.Click “Mobile” on the left pane.
2.Click “add a phone” link. Enter your cell number and click “Activate” phone. Follow the resulting directions.
3.Look at the phone options and uncheck any that may attack your privacy or become annoying.
4.Click “Save” changes.
5.Click “Account” on the left panel.
6.Scroll to the bottom and, in the Login verification section, select “Send login verification requests” to your phone number. They will send you a test message and you need to respond back.
Talking about those apps, go back to the Apps section and click “Undo Revoke Access” buttons for each app. Furthermore, change your password for those apps which are available on your tablet and phone.
Using Login verification is a bit complicated task. For this:
1.On your PC, go to Twitter's Settings page, return to the Password section and click the “Generate” button. A numeric code will appear on the screen.
2.On your mobile device, launch your Twitter app and change the password. This time enter the numeric code displayed on your screen instead of entering the old and new password.
With the above mentioned ways, you can keep your Twitter account safe. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:
