Description
It is common to sync an iPhone with a Mac. But, syncing an
Android phone with OS X is not very easy. Let’s discuss the method below.
Solution:
Below are the steps
to sync an Android phone to your Mac:
1.
To sync contacts
For syncing your phone with your Google account, you need to
make syncing enabled. For this, go to settings>Accounts>Google and then
give your email address. Check that Sync Contacts box is checked. After this,
open the Address Book App on your Mac and go to Address
Book>Preferences>Accounts and then choose On My Mac. Out of the two
boxes, one is ‘Synchronize to yahoo’ and another is ‘Synchronize to Google’. Selecting
the Synchronize to Google box, you can press Accept in the pop-up box and then enter
your Gmail address and password. Now, you can easily see the sync symbol in
your Mac’s menubar. Click it and choose Sync Now.
2.
To Sync Calender
For this, open the iCal app on your Mac and then navigate to
iCal>preferences>Accounts. Now, you can click the plus(+) symbol given in
the lower left corner and add calendar to iCal. Set ‘Account Type’ to Automatic
and then fill Gmail address & password. At the end, click Create.
3.
To Sync Media
The easy way to sync media, music, videos, photos and
podcasts is DoubleTwist. This app is commonly known as iTunes for Android. Android
devices that have USB mass storage mode enabled can work with DoubleTwist for
regular USB syncing. For using DoubleTwist,
download and install Free DoubleTwist desktop app on your Mac. On opening it
for the first time, it will scan your iTunes and then import media content.
This import should be done manually. After this, download the DoubleTwist app
to your Android phone. Then connect it with a USB cable to your Mac and follow
the instructions given on the screen to mount your phone to your computer.
4.
To Sync Files
By using Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, SkyDrive or SugarSync,
you can easily sync documents and spreadsheets between your Android phone and
Mac. Taking example of Dropbox, download this app on the Android phone. Sign in
to Dropbox with the required account info and then place any file in your
Dropbox folder which is automatically synced between your devices.
5.
To Sync everything
The simple way of syncing everything is to use Google’s own
apps for email, calendaring, photos and contacts. Using the Web-based Google
account, you can enable syncing to your Android by selecting Settings>
Accounts> Google. After this, enter your Google account.
Well, by going through the above steps you can completely
understand the method of syncing your Android phone to Mac.
