Install PS4 updates via a USB flash drive

Description

If you have started using PlayStation 4 then a software update is available for you. As soon as you power on the system, you will find the update ready for you to download. This update is useful for receiving the full benefits of Sony’s latest console.

Solution:

There are two methods to install the update i.e. directly through an Internet-connected PlayStation 4 or with a USB flash drive.

For those without Internet connection, second method is good.

Find the points below to do this:

1. Insert a USB drive of at least 1 GB free space into your computer.

2. Create a folder on the drive with the name "PS4" -- no spaces.

3. Now, create a folder named “UPDATE” in all caps inside PS4 folder.

4. From Sony’s website, download the update and save it in the UPDATE folder on your USB drive. The latest update version is 1.50.

5. If power indicator is orange in PlayStation 4 then hold the power button until the system beeps. When the system turned off, connect the USB drive.

6. Start the PlayStation 4 in safe mode by holding the power button for 7 seconds.

7. Now, plug the controller in and press the PlayStation button. After this, select “Update System Software” option. When you restart your PlayStation 4, it will be up to dated.

8. For installing the update properly, enter Settings, click on System Settings and choose “System Information.”
