Solution:
Firstly, inspect both your laptop and TV to identify connections which is located on the back of either component. You can find five basic types of jacks or ports involved:
•Composite/phono plug (RCA)- Also called the phono connector, it is used for analog audio and video components. You can find three round, colored sockets- left audio is white, right audio is red, and composite video is yellow. These are standard jacks on old TV and laptop.
•S-Video- It is more advanced analog video connector which uses a four-prong round plug. S-Video is generally found on older TV sets and some laptops. With a single S-Video cable, connecting a laptop to a TV is simple.
•Video graphics array (VGA) - This connector is used to carry analog signals as well as display and graphics data. It is a 15-pin connector found on laptops and other devices.
•Digital video interface (DVI) - It is rectangular with 24 pins arranged in three horizontal rows of eight pins for digital video. You can find these ports on Macintosh laptops.
•High-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) - It is one-half the size of the DVI port and is rectangular with 19 pins. You can find these ports on new HDTVs. These TVs with HDMI ports do not require additional cables.
But, if these ports do not match then you can go for adaptors or cables to make connection. This is all you need to connect laptop to TV. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:
