1.Microsoft Fix It Solution Center is an online tool through which you can resolve common system issues. For using it, simply go to http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ and select a problem area from “Step 1.” Then choose what type of problem you are trying to fix from the list in “Step 2.” After that, select the action you’d like to execute from “Step 3.”

2.Problem Steps Recorder is an important tool to record the step-by-step interactions which occur when the user replicates the problem. It also takes screenshots of every action. It is helpful if you need to send a report to a third-party vendor for technical support.

3.Windows Vista / 2008 include a tool known as Reliability Monitor that provides an overview of the entire system stability as well as details regarding the issues effecting system reliability. For this, go to Start menu and type Reliability. It will open “View reliability history” shortcut. On clicking this shortcut, Reliability Monitor launches directly.

4.When you get the error like Win32, HRESULT, NTSTATUS or STOP then you need to use WELT (Windows Error Lookup Tool) for finding the meaning of these error codes. To launch it, simply execute Windows Error Lookup Tool.exe from the folder where you extracted welt.zip to and enter the error code in the textbox. The error details appear automatically.

5.PowerShell Troubleshooting Packs can be very effective as it is a collection of PowerShell scripts that you can use to diagnose different aspects of your servers, clients or network. For this, open PowerShell command prompt and by running “Import-Module TroubleshootingPack” command, import the modules associated with the pack. Finally, run the following command to start the desired troubleshooting pack:

6.WinAudit is useful for scanning computer as well as collecting information about installed software, TCP/IP settings, Drives, Error Logs, etc. For this, execute WinAudit.exe to start the application and click “Audit” icon in the top left hand corner. After its competition, you can review the activities from the different categories in the left hand pane.

7.Joeware Utilities are the list of free utilities for troubleshooting system issues as well as information regarding system.
Some of the tools available from Joeware Utilities include:

•SidToName- It is a command line tool which resolves Security Identifiers to friendly display names.

•AccExp- It is the command line tool which you can use to modify or read the expiration date of local user accounts

8.Nirsoft NirLauncher is an application which consists of more than 170 portable freeware utilities including password recovery tools, Internet tools, programming tools, and system tools.

•USBDeview- It gives the information regarding all the USB devices connected to local or remote machine.

•CurrPorts- It shows a list of all currently open TCP/UDP ports on the local machine. Also, you can close open connections and export the information to a file.

•LastActivityView- With LastActivityView, you can monitor what actions were taken by a user as well as events occurred on the machine.

9.Microsoft SysInternals Suite contains over 60 lightweight troubleshooting tools all are available in a single download package.
Some important tools are:

•Autoruns- To view which programs and services are configured to run at system boot up or login.

•Process Monitor- Troubleshoot issues by monitoring activity related to processes, threads, DLLs, the registry and file system in real-time.

•AccessEnum- To view the permissions of file system directories or registry keys.

10.WSCC (Windows System Control Center) acts as an inventory for various system troubleshooting tool suites. It lets you install, update, execute and categorize the entire collection of tools in a single location.
