Description

It is really irritating when the laptop freezes and this hinders your work. Then what to do? Well, in this tutorial we are providing you some help regarding laptop freezing.

Solution:

Causes for laptop freezing:

1. The most common cause is physical. Laptops generally freeze due to overheating, dust built up in the chassis or a blanket preventing workflow.

2. Secondly, it may freeze due to insufficient memory. Laptop’s RAM also acts as a working memory of the brain and thus, it also gets tired.

3. The third problem can be related to software.

Actions to take:

1. Try to close the offending program.

2. If it is not closing then try to close it through the Task Manager. For this, press Ctrl+Alt+Del.

3. Well, if your laptop is still not responding then it’s time to go for hard reset. Just hold the power button until the device powers off.

4. But, if this doesn’t work then disconnect the AC connection and remove the battery.

5. After this, check the temperature of the laptop. For this, check around the vents and hinge that if there is anything obstructing airflow.

Fixing issues

Heat problems can be resolved by cleaning out the dust as well as keeping the vents unobstructed to manage proper airflow. If you are not a technical expert then take your laptop to a professional to tackle issues like broken cooling fan, heat sink, etc. For combating with memory problems, find out that where the memory is being used. From the Task manager, select “Processes” tab. You will see a list of various programs running on the machine. Without opening any program, just take a look at the physical memory. If it is almost full then you have found the problem. But, if it is almost free then try to open the last program used. Your frequently used apps might be hogging all the memory. For making RAM free, shift files to the hard drive, uninstall programs that are not required as well as turn off any program running in the background. Always consider upgrading RAM to avoid memory issues later. Problems related to software may also be there. This is due to malicious program, a buggy software update, or corrupted driver. For this, roll back your PC to a previous state using System Restore to the date when the performances issues began.
