Fix Libraries Showing Generic Blank Icon and Nothing Happens When a Library Is Double-Clicked

When you click on the Documents, Pictures, Music or Videos library from the Start menu, nothing may happen. Also, these library links may show up with the file extension ".library-ms" in the Windows 7 Start menu.

And the libraries (both the built-in and custom ones) don’t work when double-clicked from Explorer, and they show up with a generic icon.

This can happen if the .library-ms file association is messed up. To fix this, download w7-library-fix.zip from a reliable source , unzip and run the enclosed REG file.

Note: .REG files have plain-text content, can be viewed using a text editor like Notepad, just in case you want to check the contents before merging the file.
