5 things to do before upgrading to OS X Mavericks

Description

Want to upgrade to Apple’s OS X Mavericks? Well, it is available at Mac App store for free. Just check your system requirements and if your system has minimum requirements then you can install it.

OS X Mavericks

Solution:
Firstly, you need to check the system requirements. If your system is running OS X Mountain Lion then it should run Mavericks. Also, Apple announced that it is available for iMac, MacBook Airs and Mac Mini. Furthermore, the Apple Store will surely check your system compatibility. If you can download it without any error then it will get installed easily.

Secondly, make sure your system is not experiencing any major problems including freezing or crashing of applications, inability to log into a user account, enable sharing services or problems with hardware connections. During the upgrade, they may cause some software configuration errors.

Thirdly, you need to run a few maintenance routines on your hard drive before installing Mavericks. Reboot the system into Safe Mode and then check the hard drive for errors using Disk Utility. In case, you found any problem then restart to the OS X Recovery HD partition as well as run Disk utility’s repair routines there. Running a full general maintenance routine using third-party tools for clearing system caches and temporary files is sometimes unnecessary for preparing a system to upgrade

Finally, the most important step is to take back up of your system by using a restorable backup solution like Apple’s Time machine or any other third-party cloning tool. This will keep your data safe. Also, it will allow you to perform a clean install of OS X Mavericks. After the installation, you can transfer your data and programs from backup. Always try to backup your system two times. It is beneficial if unfortunately one backup drive fails.
